Caption: Date: 1970-1971 Location: Keroun, Morang Description: President of the local cooperative and progressive farmer, Bandhu Lal Chaudhuri, a Tharu, in his field of wheat. Wheat was introduced during the Green Revolution, starting in the late 1960s as a crop that fit into what was normally a fallow time in the winter. Most people in the eastern Tarai had little familiarity with wheat as a crop or as a food, but it was accepted quite rapidly nonetheless as an additional source of both food and income.
