Caption: Date: 1970-1971 Location: Keroun, Morang Description: A farmer checks out improved pigs being raised by a Peace Corps Volunteer. Piglets were available from the government agricultural research station, Tarahara, less than a day’s travel from the village. Several ethnic groups in the village consumed pork. Other groups that did not eat prok became interested in raising pigs at arm’s length for income. The enclosure was constructed from half-round lumber left over during house construction, bamboo, and roof tiles.
