Caption: Date: 1968-04 Location: Gadi Bayalkada, Surkhet Description: Voluntary laborers from Rawutkot, Dailekh, carry lengths of 7/8” wire rope uphill from Surkhet on the way into Dailkeh District. Wire rope from the dismantled ropeway had been trucked from Kathmandu to the farthest point it could be trucked to the base of the foothills in the jungle south of Surkhet. The wire rope was then carried over shoulders for six days to reach the bridge sites in Dailekh. Birendranagar municipality (in its earliest days) is in the center of the photo at the northern edge of Surkhet valley.
