Caption: Date: 1968-12 Location: Tukuche, Mustang Description: Yak train makes its way along the main trading route on the western side of the Kali Gandaki River plain in the gorge between Annapurna Massif (8,091 meters) and the Dhaulagiri peak (8,167 meters). In the background is the northern side of the eastern ridge of Dhaulagiri. The river plain is at an elevation of 2,520 meters, and is known for easily found shaligram fossils, revered as one of the five non-living forms of Lord Vishnu (and proving that the plain was, at one time, below sea level).
