Caption: Date: 1969 Location: Makwanpur Description: Tribhuvan Rajpath, the oldest motor road in Nepal, it was built in 1956 from Birganj in the terai (on the Indian border) to Naubise (some 25 kilometers west of Kathmandu). Shown in the photo is a particularly winding stretch of road along its total length of 116 kilometers, which covers the ground that is only a 32-kilometer distance as the crow flies.
