Rara Lake is at an elevation of 2,990 meters, and has a surface area of about 10 square kilometers with a maximum depth of 167 meters. With a shoreline measuring 14 kilometers, it is 5.1 km long and 2.7 kilometers wide. It is the focus of the Rara Lake National Park, designated as such in 1976, 8 years after this photo was taken.
