Date: 1966-05
Location: Bharse, Gulmi
Description: In 1966 Bharse was a village carved out of a forested area in central west Nepal maybe 50 years earlier. Terraced fields and houses were constructed. This view is from Bharse High School looking east up the hill. Houses seen in the top center have slate roofs and are sturdier but more expensive. Thatch roofs as seen in the foreground are more common because roofing material is easier to get and they are cheaper to build.
