Date: 1966-09 Location: Bharse, Gulmi Description: The monsoon brings life to Nepal. But it also takes a toll on the country's roads and trails. When monsoon rainfall washed out the main trail into Bharse, the entire village worked on its repair. Village girls and school students brought loads of mud and stone to the washout while the local masons worked on reconstructing the washed out trail. In 1966 there were only a few paved highways in the entire country, mostly in the Kathmandu Valley. To travel in the remote areas of Nepal meant to go by footpath.
