Caption: Date: 1966-1968 Location: Parsa Description: Teacher and his pupils with slate boards and notebooks. This school was in a village inside the jungle, just north of Biruwa Guthi. Unlike the teacher, the residents of this village were dark skinned and their native tongue was not Hindi or its dialects. It was thought that these people had come from southern India many years before and had settled at this place in Nepal. The large landowner from Biruwa had farmland in this area (referred to as "Jhaphara." The lighter skinned boys on left may be the sons of the teacher.
