Caption: Date: 1966-1968 Location: Biruwa Guthi, Parsa Description: Man, boy (maybe son) and bullocks, plowing. The plow used here was a single blade with a mold board, and was reported to be an improved implement that could replace the traditional plow (a steel rod, fitted into a wood base). Several of these new implements were used in Biruwa Guthi area. The mold board turned the soil over, as seen here, which was the intentional effect. However, the steel blade wore down very quickly making this version of the mold board plow non-effective after a short while. The plows were made in Birgunj. The picture is taken toward the north and Nepal's foothills. Keywords: Bob Nichols, Nepal Photo History Project, Peace Corp Photo History, agriculture, plowing, tilling
