Caption: Date: 1967 Location: Biruwa Guthi, Parsa Description: Panchayat house, Biruwa Guthi Panchayat. Two Peace Corps Volunteers lived here between September 1966 and May 1967. One volunteer continued to live here through July 1968. The volunteers built a fence around the house to protect a garden to the left, and the shed that was added onto the right side of the house. Cattle would eat straw from the walls of the shed. The U.S. Ambassador to Nepal (Carol Laise) and the U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam (Ellsworth Bunker) slept in this shed on a honeymoon visit to the village in early 1967. The picture is taken facing toward the southwest. Keywords: Bob Nichols, Nepal Photo History Project, Peace Corp Photo History, community, government building, home life, house exterior
