He ran the Nepal Railway from Raxaul, India to Birganj in the 1960s before being transferred to Janakpur to run the railway there. When he said he managed "the Nepal Railway" in Birganj, he would burst out laughing because the line from Raxaul to Birganj was so short. He was a charismatic fellow. His extended family owned land in the Biruwa Guthi panchayat; it was managed by his brother, Madan Singh, K.C.
