Second from left is Dip Naryan Deo, who worked as an agricultural extension agent (Junior Technical Assistant, "JTA"). Fifth from left is Babu Sahib, the large landowner in the village. Several moldboard plows were purchased in Birganj and brought to the panchayat for demonstration purposes, as an alternative to the traditional (wood base - metal rod) plow used by the farmers to break up the ground in preparation for planting. The blade for the moldboard plows was made of soft steel, however, and wore out quickly.
