Caption: Date: 1967 Location: Biruwa Guthi, Parsa Description: Dead elephant, close to the jungle. The word was that this elephant was once part of the royal group of elephants and that it had been released to the jungle. The villagers knew this elephant and referred to it as "Ganesh." There was a fight with another elephant and this one died. Blood is plainly visible on the neck. It is not known what happened to the tusks afterwards; district officials may have been involved to deal with that issue. The body of the elephant was said to have been buried.
