Caption: Date: 1966-1967 Location: Dhankuta, Dhankuta Description: Suspension bridge for foot traffic over the Tamur River at Mulghat, showing temporary bamboo scaffolding where the British are making repairs. The bridge was originally constructed by the British, and is located on the major trekking route leading from Dharan (and the Terai) in the south to Dhankuta and other hill districts to the north. The British subsequently constructed a motorable road from Dharan to Dhankuta and further north, crossing the Tamur at another location. The motorable road follows along the Leoti Khola in a flat river valley just south of Mulghat (visable on the rear left portion of the photograph).
