The garden was the practical part of a new class in vocational agriculture which the school launched in 1967 with the help of Peace Corps volunteer Charles Bailey and his counterpart, Dilli Prasad Sitaula. The school was founded in 1950 during the reign of King Tribhuvan and Prime Minister Mohan Jung Bahadur Rana and was both a primary and high school.
