Caption: Date: 1967-06-01 Location: Chiti, Lamjung Description: A wooden jug is being carved on a man-powered lathe. In this photograph the carver is hollowing out the inside of the jug. The lathe is turned by two men holding opposite ends of a leather strap who rotate the lathe in opposite directions. The wood was cured in the ground for one year by a villager near Tilihar who then had the carver come from another village (Taksar) to turn the wood into a wooden jug.
