Caption: Date: 1967-06-01 Location: Chiti, Lamjung Description: A wooden jug is being carved on a man-powered lathe. The carver steadies the cutting tool on a stick that is held on his toes. The lathe is turned by two men holding opposite ends of a leather strap who rotate the lathe spindle. The wood had been cured in the ground for one year by a villager near Tilihar who then had the carver come from another village (Taksar) to turn the wood into wooden jugs.
