Caption: Date: 1968 Location: Birendranagar, Surkhet Description: These men were digging the borders of a road that was being surveyed from East side of the Surkhet Valley to the West side, about ten miles. The leaders had the foresight to do this before much building had been done. Most of the people lived on the mountains because of malaria, but when malaria was eradicated, they began to move their homes down in the valley. Until then, few houses existed there.
