Caption: Date: 1970 Location: Sakhuwa Parsauni, Parsa Description: Threshing rice in Shripur village in the Terai. Oxen are yoked together and to a central post. They tread around and around on the harvested rice, breaking the grain free from the straw. In the right background, dung--to be used for cooking--is drying in stacks. The dung is gathered from the cows, oxen, and water buffalo, shaped around several lengths of rice straw into "logs," and then stacked to dry.
