Caption: Date: 1970-1971 Location: Sakhuwa Parsauni, Parsa Description: In Shripur, a Tharu village. Step 2 in the marijuana production process. First, the plants were cut and laid out in a row. Now these villagers are pacing back and forth across the plants to flatten them. Next, they will be stacked, one on top of another, in a circular fashion with stems outward, and covered with a blanket (and pressed with an upside-down bed) to cure. After a couple of weeks, they will be uncovered and then brushed to remove loose leaves and the dried buds will be plucked off. Note the men with towels on their heads against the hot sun.
