Description: Peace Corps volunteer Nick Ecker-Racz, is buying several kukris from the Kamis who came to the local weekly Bhojpur market. Bhojpur is reputed to make some of Nepal's best kukris, and it was our impression that this was right. They were thicker and sturdier than others we saw, and often (though not always) better crafted, often with buffalo-horn handles. Local people were always quick to tell you this. There was a strong local pride. As I recall, you could buy a good one for ten or twelve rupees. That translated to about a dollar apiece. Most were made from truck springs, we were told.
