Description: Sherpa child sits on her mother's lap drinking raksi. It was not unusual for young children to drink raksi, a drink so alcoholic that, undiluted, it burns with a blue flame. Note the very fine hat and coin necklace. Because of their position on the trade routes between Tibet and India, Sherpas were frequently quite wealthy.
