Date: 1966-07 Location: Hemaja, Kaski Description: An evening performance by refugee women of traditional Tibetan dances performed in celebration of the Dalai Lama’s birthday at the Hyangja Tibetan Camp. This was the first time that Tibetans from Dharamshala visited this camp. They came for a week to teach the young people the traditional dances and songs from Tibet. The culmination of that work was this performance. This camp opened in 1962 in collaboration with the Swiss government, which had been charged by the United Nations to oversee the establishment of this camp.
