The concrete building was owned by Jiv Nath Sedhai, with shops rented on the ground floor and family and rented bedrooms upstairs; it has since been expanded to three floors, and the tea shop shown next door on the right (hosted and managed by his wife Sabitri) has since been replaced by a multi-floor permanent building as well.
