Date: 1964-11 Location: Bhimphedi, Makawanpur Description: Bus used in transport of passengers from Amlekhganj, in the Terai, to Bhimphedi. Before the completion of the Rajpath (the road linking India and Kathmandu), travelers going to Kathmandu from India and the Terai could board this bus and be driven from Amlekhganj or Hetauda to the hill village of Bhimphedi where they would then continue on foot over the mountains to Kathmandu. The hike from Bhimphedi to Kathmandu took 13 hours.
