Date: 1972-04 Location: Puranchaur. Kaski Description: Woman filling her gagro with water from the new water tap. In 1971 the Peace Corps launched a drinking water project with the Ministry of Economic Development, UNICEF and WHO. The Nepal 27 group was the first group of Volunteers to work with villages. The Volunteers coordinated the program and trained the villagers on construction methods. The villagers did all the work. UNICEF paid for the pipe, His Majesty's Government paid for cement and stone workers. This was the second tap constructed in the village of Puranchaur. It was opened in about January 1972. The village leader was Dili Ram.
