Description: Gai Jatra (Festival of Cows). Two men lead a calf to the door of a house where someone in the family has died in the past year. This will help to ease the passage of the deceased to and through the next rebirth and eventual release from the cycle to arrive in heaven. Gai Jatra has many facets to help ease and face the reality of death for family and community; costumes, dancing, humor, satire, and food during and after the street processions.
