His large household spanned five generations, from his grandmother to his grandchildren. Females outnumber the males in his household because: Ganga Bahadur Rai and his two sons each had two wives; more daughters were born to him than sons and the females of his family had greater longevity. The multiple marriages make the relationships of his immediate family members complex.
