Caption: Date: 1971-09 Location: Chainpur, Bajhang Description: The Khaptad Swami, revered across Bajhang and neighboring districts, lived alone for decades high on remote Khaptad Lekh. Villagers from all around brought him rice, dal and vegetables and stocked him for the winters when no else went up on the lekh due to snow. His reputation extended far beyond western Nepal. The Nepal's King Mahendra and a variety of high-level ministers came to Khaptad for darshan and to seek his counsel. After Swami-ji's death in 1996 Khaptad became a national park.
