Caption: Date: 1971-07 Location: Banni, Bajhang Description: Ram Jang Bahadur Singh, the 58th Raja of Bajhang on his return from exile in India as a result of a pardon from the King of Nepal. He was active in the expatriated Nepal Congress party. In the early 1960s his son, Om Jang Bahadur Singh was part of an armed insurrection that was planned to sweep into Nepal from India, all across the southern border. As it happened, only the western Nepal group, led by Om Jang, actually entered Nepal. They were hunted down by the Nepal army and cornered in the high mountains between Darchula and Bajhang, where Om Jang was killed. After his exile, Ram Jang had no home in Bajhang and lived mostly in Kathmandu. He reconciled with the reigning Shah family and his nephew, Deepak Jang, the 60th Raja of Bajhang, married a daughter of King Mahendra.
