Caption: Date: 1969-04 Location: Dailekh Description: This photo was taken in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. Dailekh Panchayat Sub-Overseer Dal Bir Singh (right) watches as a welder completes a weld on the last of four tower footings custom-designed for Rawutkot’s (Dailekh) Chamghat River suspension bridge. The foundry also made custom-designed metal alloy cable clamps, threaded ½” stringers, and hook bolts from which to hang the decking. All parts made at the foundry were trucked north to Nepalganj (Banke) at the Indian border where they cleared customs before being carried northward in the fall to the bridge site.
