Caption: Date: 1976 Location: Hile, Dhankuta Description: Kepa and Tanka Lama, holding daughter of Jan Mascall who lived in Hile 1971-1972 as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Jan returned to visit with his young daughter in 1976. Kepa and Tanka Lama ran a restaurant in Hile, mid-way down the main street on left side, facing northeast. They made excellent Tibetan food. The resettled Tibetans in Hile frequently traded for Western articles or received such as gifts from Westerners who trekked through Hile. Tanka's blue jacket may be one of those articles.
