Caption: Date: 1970-1971 Location: Sakhuwa Parsauni, Parsa Description: Outside a Tharu village. Green bricks are being stacked for firing. The process takes place wherever there is good clay for brick-making. One can see the stubble in the field from the previous year's crops. Unfortunately, the process sometimes stopped at this point: the home-builder would run out of money and the pile of fired bricks would bake in the sun and weather in the wind and rain. The countryside was dotted with these mounds. Keywords: John Vail, Nepal Photo History Project, Peace Corp Photo History, brick making, handicrafts
