Caption: Date: 1970-1971 Location: Sakhuwa Parsauni, Parsa Description: Outside a Tharu village. A brick house was the ultimate sign of financial well-being. Here the bricks have been made from local clay, pressed in moulds, dried in the sun, and then stacked for further drying. The men are carrying the still-green bricks to be stacked in a large mound which will be covered with mud and then fired. When the mound cools, the covering mud layer, now hardened, will be removed to reveal the fired bricks.
