Caption: Date: 1972 Location: Hile, Dhankuta Description: Dzos (hybrid yaks) on Hile’s main street. They are part of a trading caravan from the north. The caravan traveled through Hile in January and returned from the Terai carrying salt to the north. The Chinese had closed the Tibet border and salt was no longer available from Tibet, so pack animals carried salt in the opposite direction of the earlier history.
